Javier Alarcon and tribal representatives from Native Way Productions will hold an opening ceremony on Thursday morning, June 23, to ask for the blessings from the Creator for the festival. This is the only event held on Thursday and there is no charge. It will take place at around 9:00 a.m. on Snake Mountain, above the old Trade School grounds. My recommendation for anyone wishing to attend this opening ceremony is to be at the old Trade School building on the festival grounds just off U.S. Hwy 421 (full directions below) by 8:00 a.m. Thursday morning and follow the train of vehicles up the mountain. I highly recommend carpooling as the road is a narrow, winding, gravel road and there is very little parking available at the top. If you come hungry, be there around 7:00 - 7:30 a.m. and enjoy breakfast (for a small donation) which is being served inside the old Trade School building. After breakfast everyone gathers outside and heads up the mountain in a caravan.

Trade is located along U.S. Hwy 421 between Mt. City TN and Boone, NC. The site is located at the old Trade school building just 1/2 mile from the North Carolina border. Signs are posted along the highway as you approach Trade, both from Mt. City and from Boone.
